WORKSHOP: Intro to Hand & Rod Puppetry, Led by Noah Ginex

In this workshop students will learn the basics of performing hand & rod puppets, a style made popular by The Muppets, by covering baseline skills like lip sync, focus, movement, character work, and improv to lay the groundwork for more advanced play and other forms of puppetry. Students can expect to practice, play, and become comfortable with puppeteering in this fun and rewarding style.

Noah Ginex has been building and performing puppets for the stage, film, and tv since 1995. He has created works for companies all over the country and internationally, like the USNA, Barenaked Ladies, FSU Masters Film program, Second City, iO, Threadless, as well as multiple libraries around the Chicagoland area. In addition to hosting Rough House’s quarterly puppet cabaret Nasty Brutish & Short since 2011, Noah and his puppets have also hosted events for Links Hall, the BDAI, and have been seen for over 10 years on WGN Morning News.
